Small things...

It is amazing how much a small thing can brighten your outlook on life but it really does happen.
Last weekend when everyone was feeling good for a few hours, we made an excursion to IKEA. We owed Alex a computer chair and I decided it was high time we picked up some curtain rods to hang the valances we brought over with us. With those finally in our possession I was looking forward to getting things going.
As misfortune would have it, we all woke up the next day feeling somewhat off. No surprise that nothing got done that day.
By Tuesday, Alex was having her 2nd round of Norovirus, I had never stopped, Logan had something new coming on, and Ben was feeling rather poorly. Alex had to stay home from school the rest of the week and between her, Logan, and myself there was not an opportunity to put up the rods. Add in that Ben was exhausted by the time he got home each night and was feeling progressively worse and there was no hope of the packaging coming off.
However last night I decided enough was enough and I was going to put those rods up no matter what! I got out all the tools and the ladder and started marking where the holders would go. It became obvious that this venture was not going anywhere when 30 minutes later I had managed to only drill 2 holes...and they were in the wrong place :( One should never attempt measuring or have any sort of power tool at their disposal when they are ill!
Today dawned a new day and I was feeling better so I decided to give it another try. I am now sitting in the living room marveling at how such a small thing like getting 3 (I'm halfway there!) valances up can not only change the look of the room, but my outlook on things in general.
